A continental breakfast is a type of morning meal that typically consists of bread, croissants or other baked goods served with butter and jam; cheese, cold cuts or charcuterie; yogurt or fruit; and sometimes hot items such as eggs, bacon or sausages. This style of breakfast is popular in Europe and North America and is often served at hotels and bed-and-breakfast establishments. The term "continental" refers to the European continent where this type of breakfast originated.
